Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how The Monkeys (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Hell Yeah mobile and web applications (the “App”).
1. Who we are
Hell Yeah is operated by The Monkeys, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at themonkeys.letstalk@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run multiplayer games:
- Anonymous account identifier. When you open the App, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous user ID so you can read and write game data securely. We do not ask for your email, phone number, or password.
- Player profile in a game room. You choose a display name (up to 20 characters) and an avatar. This is stored in Firebase Realtime Database while a game room is active so other players in that room can see you.
- Game content. During play we store answers (up to 50 characters), votes, scores, room codes, and game state in Firebase Realtime Database. This data is visible to authenticated players in the same room.
- Local session data. The App saves your room code, player ID, name, and avatar on your device (via SharedPreferences) so you can reconnect after closing the App.
- Analytics data. We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand how the App is used. Events may include room codes, anonymous player IDs, game phase, player counts, and interaction events such as joining a room or submitting a vote. We do not send display names or free-text answers to Analytics.
- Technical data. Firebase and Google may automatically collect standard device and diagnostic information (such as operating system, app version, and crash logs) as part of providing their services.
3. How we use information
- Authenticate you and enforce game security rules
- Run real-time multiplayer sessions (lobby, writing, voting, scoring)
- Restore your session if you return to an active room
- Improve reliability and understand usage patterns via Analytics
- Respond to support requests
4. How game data is stored and deleted
Active game data lives in Firebase Realtime Database under a room code. When the host leaves and deletes the room, or when a game ends and the room is removed, associated game data is deleted from our servers. Final standings may be written as a snapshot at the end of a game and removed when a new game starts in the same room.
Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings in our Firebase project. Local session data remains on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall the App.
5. Security
Access to game data is protected by Firebase Realtime Database security rules, including:
- Only authenticated users can read or write game data
- Players may only modify their own profile, answers, and votes during the correct game phase
- Host-only controls for starting games, changing settings, and deleting rooms
- Strict validation on field lengths and allowed values (for example, answer text length limits)
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we design the App to minimize collected data and restrict access through these rules.
6. Third-party services
We use Google Firebase services (Authentication, Realtime Database, and Analytics). Google processes data on our behalf according to its Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Children
Hell Yeah is a party game intended for general audiences. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact themonkeys.letstalk@gmail.com.
8. Your choices and rights
- You choose your display name and avatar; avoid sharing real names if you prefer privacy.
- Leaving a game or uninstalling the App stops further data collection from your device.
- You may request deletion of analytics-linked identifiers or ask questions about your data by emailing themonkeys.letstalk@gmail.com.
9. International users
Our services are operated from India. Firebase/Google may process data on servers in other countries. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection laws.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
